Born in Iaşi, Romania, into a family of musicians, cellist Magdalena Moroşanu began her studies at the National College of Arts in her hometown. Shortly after, she began her career as a cellist at a very young age when she appeared on the stage as a soloist accompanied by many philharmonic orchestras.
Part of Bucharest to continue her development at the Academy of Music, Magdalena obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1997 and continues her artistic path by becoming a laureate of numerous national and international cello competitions. Arriving in Germany, she received a Diploma of Orchestral Musician at the National Conservatory of Rostock and became the youngest collaborator of the Orchestra and Theater of the city. Established in Switzerland since 2000, she received a Concert Diploma and a Solo Diploma at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne and Neuchâtel.
With a touching, sensitive and warm play, Magdalena performs regularly with chamber music ensembles in Switzerland, Sweden, France, Great Britain and Romania.
Much appreciated by the public for her interpretation of baroque music, Magdalena also addresses a very large and varied solo cello repertoire.
Since 2006, Magdalena teaches cello at the Cantonal Conservatory of Valais where she is involved in the training of young cellists. She also collaborates with Swiss educational institutions as president or jury member in various music competitions.
